How to Make Elegant Glass Centerpieces for Any Event
Learn how to make centerpieces for cheap
Extravagant event planning is on the rise and many
people are putting more and more money and time into preparing for that one
special event in someone’s life. Are you a beginner in the area of event
decorating? If so, don’t worry, I have the solution for you. I’ve became a
Dollar Tree addict and if you are on a budget, this is the way to go so you don’t
want to spend a tremendous amount of money. You can create these projects for someone
else to decorate an event or you can do it yourself. Whether there needs to be
a centerpiece for a birthday party, wedding, bridal shower or just an elegant
event on a special evening, an individual can save time and money by creating
it themselves. There are tedious, yet rewarding steps in making glass
centerpieces as decorations for tables for any special occasions.
What’s needed to make the centerpieces:
·
E6000
glue
·
1
glass bowl (from Dollar Tree)
·
1
candlestick holder (from Dollar Tree)
·
Rhinestone
Bling (from Dollar Tree)
·
Sponge
brush
·
Mod
Podge
·
Glitter
(I like to get mines from Joann or Hobby Lobby)
·
Hot
Glue Gun
·
Flowers
(Your Choice)
·
Newspaper
·
Floral
Foam (from Dollar Tree)
The proper steps to take
First, take these steps prior to designing the
arrangement itself:
1. First,
you will need to remove all the labels from the bowl and candleholder.
2. Clean
both items with window cleaner or a multi-surface cleaner.
3. Take
your bowl and candleholder and glue the bowl on top of the candleholder with the
E6000 glue.
4. Let
it dry overnight. Now it should be good and firm.
Bling bling
This is the part that is fun but also messy as well. I
really recommend that you put down extra newspaper because the glitter will get
everywhere. So, let’s get started:
·
First, put a sheet of newspaper down. Get
your sponge brush and Mod Podge. I normally pour the Podge into a separate bowl.
(less mess to clean up). Take you sponge and start applying the Mod Podge to
the glass bowl in a timely manner. Because you don’t want it dry before you
apply the glitter.
·
Let’s start glittering!! Turn the centerpiece
upside down. Start applying the glitter of your choice, until the entire bowl
is completely covered to your liking.
·
Once it dries, you can apply another coat
of glitter if you chose to. (I normally apply another to make it thicker.) If
you do, repeat step 7 again.
·
Once you are done with that, you can start
on making your flower arrangement.
Finished touches
Get your floral foam ball. Start cutting the flower to
your desire. (4 to 5 inches from the top). Once the stems are cut short enough,
then the next step is to gather each flower to the circular bouquet style shape
in order to accurately place into the holder once completed. Start inserting
the flowers into the foam, to get the desired look you want. Then add your
floral arrangement to the centerpiece. After the pattern is to one’s liking,
the next thing is to apply the rhinestone ribbon around the base of the
candleholder. Once the ribbon is done, cut any remaining pieces of trim off.
Pick the floral arrangement up and slowly place it into the top cylinder part
of the holder and ensure sturdiness. Once it is checked for sturdiness and
security, then carefully move your finished project to your desired location.
Finally, if you are about to do an event, use the table covers that have been
selected and cover the tables. Place the centerpiece on top of the tablecloth
to finish off the decoration.
Beautiful masterpiece
Overall, whether an individual is starting off or a
veteran in the area of crafting and design, learning to save money and time
makes decorating easier. Over time, people have turned to professional
decorators because it takes a lot of time to plan an event. Even though event
planners can be a little expensive in the long run. It’s a simple and cost
efficient for your next amazing event. Finding the time to perfect this craft
of making decorations for one’s own events helps on one’s budget in the long
run, and also turns into extra money for others who would like to hire you for
their special events. In turn, this a little bit of investment can turn into a
pastime that makes extra money for some people. Plus, there is so much fun in
knowing that you were the one that made a person’s morning, day, evening or
night into a magical event.
